How to Receive a Weir Box | Open Channel Flow
Skip to main content

FOB (Transfer of Title) Point

Factory

Title to the goods transfers to the Buyer upon the delivery of the goods to the freight carrier.  The Buyer must file any claim for loss or damage with the carrier directly.

Jobsite

Title to the goods transfers to the Buyer upon the delivery of the goods to the jobsite.  Loss or damage during transit is the responsibility of Openchannelflow.

Receiving Goods

Inspect for Damage

  • Upon delivery – but before you have signed your acceptance of the goods– inspect the goods for visible damage.  Make sure to look for obvious signs of broken straps, torn packaging, seals broken, etc.
  • The crest of the weir plate is the most important part, so make sure to inspect them.
  • Even if a shipment does not appear to be damaged, you are encouraged to take photographs at the time of delivery.
  • Accepting visibly damaged goods greatly increases the time carriers take to process a claim and decreases the chance of a successful recovery. Refusing visibly damaged goods give the carrier strong motivation to speed the recovery process.

Inspect for Correctness / Count

  • After inspecting for visible damage, it is important to inspect for order correctness / count.
  • If any items do not appear to be present, the goods do not match the Packing List, or the quantities do not match, contact Openchannelflow (855.481.1118) immediately – before accepting delivery.
  • Openchannelflow may dismount smaller accessories or items from the weir box to protect them during shipping.
    • These commonly include:  bubbler / sampler tubes, ultrasonic brackets, connection hardware, and flexible couplings.
    • Dismounted items ship boxed (ultrasonic brackets, connection hardware) or zip-tied (tubes and couplings).

CLAIMS FOR SHORTAGE (WITH SUBSTANTIATING PHOTOGRAPHS) MUST BE MADE WITHIN (10) DAYS OF RECEIPT OF GOODS DIRECTLY TO OPENCHANNELFLOW.  Regretfully, claims for shortage beyond this period will not be accepted.

Handling

  • The weir crest is important in a weir box's ability to measure flow accurately.
  • When lifting a weir box, lifting straps and spreader bars should be used.  As always, use good rigging practices and inspect all lift equipment and goods to be lifted prior to any movement.
    • Fabric slings only should be used as chains and wire will damage fiberglass surfaces.

Storage

  • Weir boxes not immediately installed after delivery may be stored until the site is ready.
  • Any small or detached items should be stored (and logged as such) in a secure area.
  • Weir boxes should be stored in an area that clean, level, and secure. If a weir box has been shipped on a pallet, it should remain so; otherwise, it should be stored in such a manner so as to protect the interior.
